Cobra Football Legacy Scholarship Dinner & Tribute

The 2016-17 school year marks the 40th year of Cobra Senior Football. To celebrate this milestone of Cobra Pride, the Fountain Lake Alumni Association is sponsoring this event for our community and athletic fraternity of former players to gather for fellowship and to celebrate the contributions of football to our school and community as part of the All Class Reunion weekend. Special guest speakers include former Coach Jerry Clay and Coach Tommy Gilleran. This will also give us an opportunity to say good-bye to Coach Gilleran and to greet Coach J.D. Plumlee. 200 seats will be avalible! When they are gone, they are gone. Dinner will be included in the ticket price.

$20 each 2 for $35. All proceeds go to the FLAA Scholarship Fund.

Aspiring Teachers

High School students, Alissa Lambert, Izabel Tillery, whom are aspiring teachers had the opportunity to accompany High School Teacher, Ms. Dana Smith, to a professional development course at Henderson University for pre-service teachers on Wednesday, March 8th. While there all three ladies were able to capture a picture with the dynamic presenter, Tyler Tarver whom is an educator himself.

High School Students visit the Central High School

On February 28, several classes visited Central High School in Little Rock, AR. Mrs. Bloomquist's Child Development class, Mr. Rountree's Civics class, and Ms. Smith's Orientation to Teaching classes toured Central High School which was featured in national news in 1957 with the segregation of 9 black students, known as the Little Rock 9, into an all white school.

The Importance of PLAY

On Friday, March 3, 2017 Mrs. Carrie Bloomquist , High School Parenting Teacher, and Coach Sandy Lively, Elementary Physical Education Teacher, joined forces to extend on Mrs. Bloomquist's class lesson "The Importance of Play." For the day several 10th - 12th grade students partnered with Kindergarten and 1st grade classes to exercise, dance, and play ball.

Middle School Students attend Discovery of Excellence

Thursday March 9th, Middle School Teacher, Mrs. Gigi Bird, and three 6th grade students were invited to the "Discovering Excellence in Arkansas", event that took place at the Museum of Discovery. The event focused on students having the ability to talk to industrial scientists from seven business regions relating to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The three female students that were selected to go each submitted an application, an essay, and were recommended by a teacher prior to being eligible for the event. At the event the students had the opportunity to participate in seven different stations where they had hands-on activities and competitions. A huge shout out to Molex who sponsored the event.
